Now that you have an idea of what you need for a beanbag chair, how do you make it? Well, for starters: You need to determine the size and specifications so that you know exactly how much of your fabric you need to use. It is always best to make a plan in advance so that you don’t get lost along the way.
In what follows, we propose five simple steps!
Step 1: Cut-up dust
First you have to cut your cloth. If you have one, put it on the cutting mat, especially if you are using a roller knife. He won’t let anything hurt you there.
Once your fabric’s in place, just cut it out. Suppose, for example, we want to make a bag of beans 45 centimetres long and 26 centimetres wide. You will have to cut a total of six pieces of fabric.
These cuts are four long pieces for the body of a 45 x 26 beanbag and one side representing a 26 x 26 square for the top. Finally, the basic square has a zipper, so a 26 x 27 inch square is needed to create extra space for a smooth zipper.
If you don’t know how to cut your fabric without a template, it’s probably best to buy a ready-made sewing template and follow it. This gives you accurate information about the lengths required for your chair.
Step 2: Clip-in-place fabric
Once you have cut out all the pieces of fabric, you can use the fabric clamps to hold them in place. The uniform should look like a box.
Take two long side pieces, lay the fabric so that the straight sides are facing each other and staple them together with the fabric staples. Then repeat this operation for the other two long pieces. This way you don’t get confused and you know exactly where to start sewing.
When you’ve done that, it’s time for stitches!
Step 3: Assembling fabrics by sewing
If you are an expert in hand sewing, this should also be an easy task for you. For the purposes of this article, however, we recommend the use of a sewing machine.
After setting up the machine, take two long pieces and start sewing one of the long sides, and repeat the process for the other two long pieces. After sewing the two long sides together, take the two pieces, put them together and sew the two long sides together. When it’s done, it should look like a fabric pipe.
The next step in the sewing process is to attach beanbags to the foot and top of the chair. It’s best to do it one by one. Start by taking a square and attach one of the 26-inch sides to the end of the tube with a fabric clip, then sew the four sides together.
Now only the last page, the top, has to be sewn! This will be the side where we will attach the zipper, so you will have to cut the fabric in the middle to make two rectangles of 26 x 15.5. Then take the zipper and place it face down on the edge of one of the pieces of fabric and stitch the edge.
Then fold the other side of the zipper with another piece of fabric. Sew this side exactly like you sewed the other square side. Make sure to leave the zipper half open so that it can be turned to the right after sewing.
Step 4: Filling bean bags
The last step in making a beanbag is filling it! Just take the chosen charge and start pouring it into the bean bag lid. The easiest way is to do it with the help of another person.
Allow one person to keep the bean bag lid open and insert a funnel into the opening while opening the bean bag. Then just pour the beans into the funnel to slowly fill the bag. When you have finished, you can leave the bag with the filling if you want to remove it from the bag for washing.
Make sure the bag is filled until it is full and not until it bursts as soon as someone is in it! Fasten your seatbelt and you’re ready to go!
Step 5: Have fun with your new ottoman!
If you’ve done all the steps right, now you need a brand new chair with an ottoman to enjoy! Just give him a harvest to make sure all the beans are in good condition. Just place it in a place of your choice and enjoy!

How to wash a chair Manual ottoman
Maybe you’re wondering how you take care of your beanbag chair? Don’t worry about it. It can be cleaned!
The method to be used depends on the type of fabric you have purchased. If you use an elastic fabric when making the chair, you should be able to wash the cover in the washing machine without any problems.
To do this, open the zipper and remove the bean bag, fill it with the original bag or container for a while and place it in the washing machine. You can use cold and warm water, a little detergent and then air dry as soon as it is ready. Once the lid is dry, just put it back in place or, if it needs to be updated, add new gaskets!
If you have made a bag with a fabric that looks more like suede, it is best to wipe it with a damp cloth or suede eraser. You can even find protective sprays specially designed for the treatment of suede.
You could have stains on the beanbag, or somebody spilled coffee. There’s nothing a damp cloth can’t dissolve! However, if you find that the material is too soft for a full machine wash, washing your hands can also be a good option.
What are the advantages of sewing your own chair?
Why sew your chair and not just buy a finished one? Well, whether you’re creative or not, sometimes it’s nice to create something yourself and be proud of it. Also, sometimes it can be difficult to find a beanbag in a style that suits a certain room, and you might want to bring your own vision to life!
Moreover, the production of an ottoman can be much more cost effective for those who shop on a budget. Some ottomans available on the market are expensive and may not even be of the best quality. If you design and produce your own products, at least you know exactly which materials and fabrics have been selected and where they come from.
I hope you’ve learned how to sew a beanbag onto a chair. We hope that the steps in this article are not too difficult to follow and that you will soon be able to enjoy the benefits of a comfortable chair with soft beans, both indoors and outdoors!
