BEANBAG STUDIOS HISTORY

Our history in developing “fun” dates back to 1993 when members of our team developed the first coin-operated countertop touch screen games as seen in family restaurants and bars known as Countertop Champion. We went on to develop innovative real-time 3D technology and games including Montezuma’s Return released and sold worldwide in 1998.  This game was one of the first few real-time 3D games released for the PC.

In the fall of 1998 we formed Sandbox Studios in order to develop highly entertaining titles for a variety of publishers. In early 2000 we founded Sandbox Studios Canada, and Sandbox Studios Development, as part of our growth strategy where we developed additional titles including the hit Xbox launch title Shrek, The Emperor’s New Groove, Disney’s Dinosaur, ESPN NHL Hockey, Matchbox Emergency Patrol and many other great games with highly recognized worldwide licenses from Disney, DreamWorks, Mattel, and others. Our games have been played by millions!

We have always taken pride in providing all of the services required to create our games, ready for retail distribution. These in-house services include the original game designs, unique stories, quality engineering, programming, art, animation, sound effects and music.

In 2001, with a team of 65 highly talented staff members, we sold the game development companies that are now part of Electronic Arts. The company developed popular titles including Battlefield 1942, its expansion packs and sequels for the hardcore gaming market.
